DMK President MK Stalin says AIADMK trying to defame DMK on NEET issue
Claims of the CM Palaniswami on (NEET) National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test was the result of the erstwhile UPA regime, DMK President M.K. Stalin accused the AIADMK government is trying to blame his party.
He said former DMK president M.Karunanidhihad opposed NEET when it was introduced at the time UPA government. “Even though we were in the UPA government, Kalaignar (Karunanidhi) wrote to the Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad opposing it and filed a writ petition in the Madras High Court challenging NEET. It is only under the president AIADMK government in the State and the BJP government at the Centre that NEET has been imposed on Tamil Nadu,” he said.
“Even after the (NEET exemption) Bills were returned 21 months ago, the AIADMK Ministers and the CM have been misleading the Assembly. They don’t even seem to understand what ‘withheld’ (by the President) means,” he said.
Stalin said that Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar claimed Ex-CM Jayalalitha’s decision against the entrance test, he had forgotten that the avoided by the Madras High Court when AIADM in power. He said it was only Karunanidhi’s time tenures as CM that legislation was approved halting the common entrance test, he said.
