A few days back, a group of 129 Indian students has been arrested at Farmington for enrolling at a fake University in the US. The Department of Homeland Security set up this fake university in Farmington Hills to target foreign students who wanted to stay in the U.S. without proper authorization.
The good news is that as per Bhuvnesh Boojala, who is the President at America Telugu Association (ATA), all the arrested students will soon be released in a few weeks. 109 students who are still behind the bars will soon be released after the discussions with the authorities. Whereas 20 students have already been out of jail. Bhuvanesh confirmed the news to one of the renowned news channels when he attended the Water and Waste Management at HICC.
“We are all aware that international students can be a valuable asset to our country, but as this case shows, the well-intended international student visa program can also be exploited and abused,” said Schneider, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Bhuvanesh has asked NRI Enquiry Branch to take basic steps of collecting the details of all those who enter the US, to avoid similar trouble in the future. He advised the students to take the required precautions before entering the U.S.
