Former CM Siddaramaiah hits out hike in traffic fines
Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has condemned the hike in traffic violation fines, he said it is a burden on motorists, who are being harassed by traffic rules.
“The latest amendment to the fines for traffic violations has become a tool to harass the common man,” Siddaramaiah said.
Siddaramaiah said that “It is definitely necessary to follow traffic rules for overall order, but hefty fines are draining the people. Governments & urban planning are a party to be blamed for few violations but that does not grant permission to anyone to violate. We as representatives have to ensure that necessary is in place & find other ways to sensitize the public. Hefty fines can indirectly catalyse ongoing auto slowdown.”
