Former Defence Minister Parrikar has denied role in Rafale deal says Rahul

Hours after a "personal visit" to Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar at his office in Panaji, Congress President Rahul Gandhi today claimed that the former Defence Minister had clearly stated he had nothing to do with the "new deal" on Rafale fighter jets.

Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rafale deal, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday made the remarks after he alleged that the “Goa audio tapes”, cited by the Congress to attack the Centre on the Rafale issue, were authentic and that Mr. Parrikar was in possession of “explosive secrets” that give him power over Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Reiterating his charge against Mr. Modi over the Rafale deal, Mr. Gandhi said he has taken ₹30,000 crore of people’s money and given it to his friend Anil Ambani.

“Why was a plane that costs ₹526 crore bought at a price of ₹1,600 crore?” he asked.

His statement came hours after he met Mr. Parrikar, now Goa Chief Minister, at the State Assembly complex in Panaji.
