Sreelekha, a former director general of the Kerala police, asserted on her YouTube channel that Dileep, a Malayalam actor, is not responsible for the 2017 actress assault case. She stated he is completely innocent and not connected to the matter in a video titled "Dileep innocent in an assault case?". She continued, saying that the police made a mistake in including him in the investigation and they are refusing to admit it.
"I have trust in the police, but why can't they confess when they make a mistake? Why are they being adamant?" she said. Sreelekha further asserts that if the police had not been chasing Dileep, they would have caught five to six suspects by now. Evidently, her higher authorities have suppressed her in the past anytime she has expressed skepticism during an inquiry.
She also claimed that Pulsar Suni and his accused "quotation crew" had falsified the majority of the evidence used against him. She further said that Suni is a member of an extortion group and accused the police of aiding him in getting a phone while he was imprisoned.
In 2017, an actress was allegedly assaulted after being kidnapped on her way home from work. Along with Pulsar Sani and five other people, actor Dileep is one of the suspects in the case. Later, the authorities said that he along with others had planned to murder the detectives looking into the matter.
