Previously, the government of Telangana announced a state-wide partial lockdown till 22nd May. Essential stores and outlets are being allowed to operate between 6 AM - 10 AM. The same regulations will be in effect till 30th May now.
Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao spoke with the cabinet ministers before announcing his decision to extend the state-wide lockdown. The proposal to extend the lockdown was unanimously agreed upon.
The downward trend in Covid cases that is being observed in Telangana post the implementation of lockdown seems to be the main reason why the state government decided to extend the lockdown.
Public movement shall be strictly prohibited post 10 AM every day till 30th May. Frontline workers and sanitary workers will be allowed to commute without any restrictions.
The final call on whether or not to extend the lockdown further from 30th May will be taken in the last week of the month.
