Have you forgotten how you divided AP? Amit Shah to Congress
The bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh (in contrast to the policy of linguistic states) and the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir by abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A are the two-most controversial parliament decisions that shook Indian history.
Bifurcation of the state into two union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh is provided by the bill. Jammu and Kashmir will be fully integrated into India by this while in Jammu and Kashmir, the whole Indian Constitution is now applicable.
Its own constitution and decision-making rights for all matters barring defence, communications, and foreign affairs were given to Jammu and Kashmir by Article 370 by scrapping of which, the state will lose its special powers and now becomes a Union Territory that is controlled and regulated by the Union Government.
Hue and cry over the revoke of Article 370 and Article 35 A that takes away the special powers of Kashmir and makes it a Union Territory, is being made by opposition parties led by Congress while Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made it clear how BJP has handled the most-sensitive issue with utmost care and diligence.
While linking bifurcation of AP and the revoke of Article 370, Shah said, "Have you forgot how you had divided Andhra Pradesh and how the AP Reorganization Bill was passed in the house by shutting doors and blocking live telecast? We had a proper debate and allowed Opposition to voice their views and with a huge majority, the bill to abrogate Article 370 and Article 35 A has been passed."
