Hefty penalties for traffic offenders

In order to ensure road safety and strengthening the public transport system, the Union cabinet has approved the amendments to the motor vehicle bill. According to the latest bill, for drunken driving, the penalty has been increased five folds bringing it from 2000 to 10000 rs. A penalty of 5000 rs has been fixed for speeding and reading.

In a mishap resulting in death, maximum liability on the third party is fixed to 10 lakhs which for the mishap resulting in serious injuries is 5 lakhs. A penalty of up to 1 lakh has been fixed for ride-hailing films is they violate licensing norms. Also in the new bill, the registration of new vehicles has been simplified. Aadhaar has been made mandatory for registration and licensee applications.

The validity of the license is 10 years for age groups between 30-50 years and 20 years for the above ages. Also the government has the right to recall the vehicles causing harm to society and the environment according to this bill. This bill will be presented in parliament in these ongoing sessions.

With all such latest decisions in the making of traffic rules, it looks like Modi got inspired of Mahesh Babu from the movie Bharath Ane Nenu.
