Here is how Ravi Shastri re-appointed as Team India’s head coach
There was no sensation in the selection of the head coach of the team India as former cricketer-commentator-manager-director Ravi Shastri was reappointed as the head coach of the team India for the straight second time. He will continue in this position until T20 World Cup which will he held in Australia in 2021.
After Six candidates were short listed, Shastri topped among all which included the likes of Tom Moody, Mike Hesson, Robin Singh, Lal Chand Rajput and Phil Simmons. Simmons was out of the race at the stroke of the lunch due to personal reasons. While, Tom Moody was interviewed in Skype, rest of the candidates attended the interview in Skype. CAC (Cricketing Advisory Committee) headed by Kapil Dev questioned the candidates for the head coach post. Mike Hesson and Tom Moody stood next to Ravi Shastri in the race of head coach post.
It is being said that Ravi Shastri faced some tough questions like the disastrous performance of team India in knock out stages in major ICC tournaments and failure in OS test series against England and South Africa. But Shastri gathered his composure to answer that a team can’t be judged with the performance on one bad day. Of course the performance of the team under Shastri’s coaching in SENA countries is the best in Team Indian cricketing history so far.
Shastri has many odds towards him as under his coaching Team India grabbed No 1 spot in tests, won first ever series in Australia and performed consistently in Limited over cricket. More ever, Team Indian Captain Virat Kohli expressed his opinion that he wishes Ravi to continue as the head coach. Now, all eyes are on the ongoing Test Championship and Team India’s performance in this grand league which justifies the selection of Ravi Shastri.
