Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ plane faced an emergency landing on yesterday’s evening after a hijack attempt made by an armed man. Bangladesh Army killed the alleged passenger who made an attempt to hijack the flight carrying 148 passengers.
The plane flying to Dubai from Dhaka made an emergency landing at Chittagong's Shah Amanat International Airport after the hijacker broke into the cockpit and demanded the crew to change the plane’s course.
The Boeing flight BG147 was safely evacuated after Army, Navy and the police surrounded the flight in Chittagong airport. “The hijacker is identified as Mahadi(25) who refused to surrender after which the commandos sent into action,” informed Major General Matiur Rahman. Reportedly the man asked that he wanted to talk to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) chairman Air Vice Marshal Naim Hassan informed that the army successfully rescued all the passengers from plane safely. “ We found a handgun and explosives with the hijacker. We are investigating to know how the alleged man boarded the flight with the explosives,” he added.
