Hyd Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar reveals the flip side of Seva Mithra app
Seva Mithra, an official TDP app which is developed by IT Grids India Pvt Ltd, a Hyderabad based IT company is now alleged to have the personal information of the citizens Aadhaar Card numbers, voter ID, Address, name, religion, caste, and benefits gained from welfare schemes. Anjani Kumar, Hyderabad Police Commissioner disclosed how the Seva Mitra App of Telugu Desam Party has been used to know about the political interest of the public in AP.
In a press meet held today, Anjani Kumar revealed the facts involved with the data theft case. He said that a complaint was lodged against IT Grid Company by Dasarath Ramireddy with SR Nagar Police Station on March 3rd. “IT Grid hired many experienced surveyors across India who created a questionnaire. The questionnaire includes the party voter tends to support and information like Aadhaar, Phone Number and caste. We have booked the case under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120B on IT Grids based on the complaint,” said Anjani Kumar.
He also stated that four dedicated teams were deployed in the city to unwind the case as soon as possible. “We are investigating the case from all possible angles whereas the main heads in the game are yet to be known. We booked a case as both complainant and victim are from Hyderabad,” he stated.
Anjani Kumar also shared the method of functioning of the IT Grids with media. He said the IT Grid representatives would first make calls to the voters and collect information based on the questionnaire developed by the surveyors. Thereafter, IT Grid will start analyzing the data they received from the TDP Booth Level Seva Mitra Convenor who collects the data like Aadhaar, Mobile Number, Community. And later the analysis will be forwarded to the TDP Key Person. “This data will, however, help the party to know the supporters of the opposition party who will further be deleted from the voters' list,” he added.
Cyberabad Police has also written to Election Commission, UIDAI and AP Government, sent a note to Amazon regarding the Data Theft Case. However, this case is taking interesting turns with every passing day.
