In Karnataka Lok Sabha constituency gets only 6 castes elected

One of the worries that were expressed by the ideologists is that landslide victories will leads to less representation of the weaker sections.

As per the information from EC, in the recent Lok Sabha elections, only five castes from the State are representation in the Lok Sabha from the state.

Five SCs, 2STs, 9 Lingayats, 3 Brahmins and 2 Balijas are nominated to the Lok Sabha from the state. “Bunt community is considered as part of Vokkaliga community”, stated an ideologist. “This means there is no representation for the Kurubas, Muslims, Christians, Idigas and other communities. This is a bad precedent”, he expressed.

He described that “The BJP is known for representing the upper castes, but now it is limited only to two major castes. This result is not according to the diversity of the state”.
