India Gets barred from Olympic events
In the wake of terror attacks in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, the relation between India and Pakistan is in threat resulting in the rejection of visas to two Pakistani sportspersons by India.
Indian sports authority invited a huge outrage with the rejection of visas to the two shooters who are supposed to take part in a World Cup event this weekend in New Delhi. As the denial of visas for sportspersons is against the principles, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has temporarily blocked India from hosting future Olympic-related events.
“We have held discussions with Indian government authorities, and in accord to the IOC norms there is no other solution but to allow the Pakistani delegation to enter India in time to compete," stated the IOC. They also said that the IOC Executive Board has also decided to suspend all discussions with the Indian NOC and government regarding the potential applications for hosting future sports and Olympic-related events in India.
The IOC also requested all the international sports federations not to hold events until GOI had provided clear written guarantees to ensure access for all athletes without any discriminations.
Over 500 shooters are to take part in the event that is planned to be hosted by India. If the media reports are to be believed, the Board of Control for Cricket had prepared a letter to ban Pakistan from the cricket World Cup.
