The Swachh Survekshan reports and awards were released at an event in New Delhi on Wednesday by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The award ceremony was conferred by President Ram Nath Kovind. Union Housing Minister Hardeep Singh Puri was also present.
The Swachh Survekshan 2019 is a pan-India survey conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, and 4,237 towns and cities, including cantonment boards across the country.
While Indore in Madhya Pradesh was ranked the cleanest city, followed by Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh, Mysuru with a score of 4378.5 out of 5000 was ranked third. However, Mangaluru was ranked 165th in the country with a score of 2518.5, while Bengaluru was ranked 194th with a score of 2331.81.
Jaipur ranked 44th in the Swachh Survekshan 2019 in the category of the cities having more than one lakh population while the Dungarpur town of the state bagged the seventh position in the category of the cities having less than one lakh population.
