Earlier, it is learnt that the IPL will not have an opening ceremony this year after the Committee of Administrators (COA) running Indian cricket decided to allocate the money set aside for it to the families of the CRPF personnel killed in the Pulwama terror attack.
 
Now, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has announced that proceeds from the ticket sales of their opening fixture of the 2019 Indian Premier League will go towards the families of the victims of the Pulwama terror attack. “Our captain MS Dhoni, who is honorary lieutenant colonel of the Indian territorial army, will present the cheque,” Rakesh said.
 
CSK first encounter will be against the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday.
 
Meanwhile, Officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also confirmed to Sport star that the Board will contribute Rs. 20crore for the welfare of the armed forces in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack, where 44 CRPF personnel were killed.
