IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals blast through Punjab Kings to take the top spot

After losing the toss and having to bat first, Punjab posted 166 runs on the board all thanks to spellbinding innings from the stand-in captain Mayank Aggarwal who scored an unbeaten 99 to take his side to a respectable total. He played a blinder of an innings in the absence of KL Rahul, who missed the game after being diagnosed with acute appendicitis.

Delhi, much like the way they have been doing of late, got off to a dream start as Prithvi Shaw took on Punjab’s bowlers right from the word go. He scored a quick-fire 39 before being bowled out by the in-form Harpreet Brar. Dhawan played the anchor role and took the game deep, scoring 69 off 47.

In the end, Delhi won the game comprehensively with 14 balls to spare and two wickets in hand. They now have 12 points and stand top on the points table.

Kolkata Knight Riders will be taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in today’s encounter and both the sides will be raring to get back to winning ways. The game will be played in Ahmedabad and it will kick-off at 7:30 PM.
