Elections are near and the parties are holding meetings about their manifestos. Political Parties will include many welfare schemes in their manifestos and will announce in their public meetings to attract the voters. Increasing the pensions is the best move to gain the old-age voters.
TRS led by KCR retained his power in Telangana by adding increased pensions in his manifesto which were one of the many welfare schemes. And now after seeing that, Political parties in Andhra Pradesh too doing the same mantra. YS Jaganmohan Reddy as part of his Nava Ratnas promised enhancement of old-age pensions from Rs1000 – 2000 per month during his Padayatra. Immediately after that announcement, Naidu did not lose much time in announcing and implemented the doubling of pensions from January this year.
Jagan Said, “Naidu has copied my promise made during the padayatra and termed Naidu as ‘Copy Cat’, but the people will reject his election Tactic. I am promising to hike the pension to Rs3000 per month and I will implement it in letter and spirit.” However, the increased pensions by Naidu had already created some positive impact on the TDP prospects. But in recent past in Telangana assembly polls, Congress party has promised to hike old age pensions to Rs2000 per month yet KCR bagged Chief Minister seat with a massive mandate. Will, it work for Jagan in Andhra Pradesh?
