JC Diwakar Reddy blames public for raise in election expenditure
JC Diwakar Reddy, Anantapur MP from Telugu Desam party who is quite famous for his wit and power packed speeches has one against hit the headlines. But this time it is not about the politicians or a party he commented about, it is the general public he targeted.
JC criticised people for becoming too commercial especially during the elections. “The election expenditure was Rs 7 Lakh when I first contested as the MLA. The expenditure went up to. Rs 25 Lakh the next time and now after three decades, the expenses are in crore of rupees. The general public is equally responsible for this situation. People who couldn't afford food for one time in a day are demanding Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 per vote these days,” said JC.
He also confronted that he has spent about Rs 50 crore during the elections. JC then said that he felt sorry for AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, who despite introducing 120 welfare schemes, had to ask for votes. “Naidu launched the welfare schemes like in no other state. ‘Pasupu-Kunkuma' and ‘Chandranna Bharosa’ that gives pension to senior citizen had played a major role," added JC.
On this note, the yellow party’s leader stated that he would soon hold a meeting with politicians, intellectuals and others to talk about the above issue.
