India’s first terrorist was a Hindu: Kamal Hassan!
Makkal Needhi Maiyam (MNM) founder Kamal Haasan has fueled a possible controversy by saying “free India’s first terrorist was a Hindu,” referring to Nathuram Godse who killed Mahatma Gandhi in 1948.
Speaking at an election rally for his party candidate in Aravakurichi assembly constituency, where by-polls will be held on Sunday, Kamal clarified that his statement was not meant to appeal to the Muslim-majority electorate in the constituency.
However, critics don't agree. Political analysts say that “Kamal Hassan is not the first person to call Godse a terrorist. The murderer of the Father of the Nation has been described as one by many. Godse was an assassin and was executed. A terrorist kills innocent at random.”
Aravakurichi is one of the four Assembly constituencies where by-polls are scheduled on May 19. MNM has fielded S. Mohanraj from this segment.
