Kanimozhi says Tamil Nadu government scared to get water from Kerala due to Modi
DMK leader and Lok Sabha member Kanimozhi claimed that the Edappadi K Palaniswami government scared to receive drinking water offered by the “Communist government” of Kerala, as it would upset Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kanimozhi was protesting against the administrative failure of the government in resolving the water crisis. “Our leader M K Stalin even made a request to Kerala Chief Minister to send water. But our chief minister does not have concerns as that of the opposition leader”, she said, taking a dig at the AIADMK government for stating that Kerala’s offer was inadequate, even as Chennai was in serious need of water supply.
She said that “Even if people are willing to buy, water is unavailable. Even foreign countries are keenly watching the situation in Chennai with a lot of concern,” Kanimozhi said. She criticized the state government for stating there was no water scarcity.
“Establishments are shut, no water to cook at home or to send children to school. The water storage is less than 1%, whereas the government has not taken efforts to resolve the issue temporarily or permanently,” she said.
The DMK leader said the EPS government should not prolong at all. “We have seen lack of employment and inadequate protection to women, but now the situation is that Tamil Nadu is being converted into a desert,” she said. And also adding that the DMK government caused by Stalin would bring a permanent solution to the water crisis when it comes back to power.
