Kanimozhi tweets Politics over Hindi, Signage on bus provokes
DMK MP Kanimozhi to blaming the Edappadi K Palaniswami government due to the MTC buses launched last week still had signages inside, like the board showing the emergency exit, only in the Hindi and English. Kanimozhi said, “there is no space for Tamil in buses bought from the tax money of the state’s people. While the Centre is imposing Hindi, the state government is also blindly following that, to show that they are on the same page with the centre on this. It is condemnable.”
She also added two photographs showing the signboards- “emergency exit”, “fire extinguisher” and related instructions were in Hindi and English, but not in Tamil. The officer said that “we have replaced Hindi instructions within all the buses, barring one that has led to the ruckus. After learning this through (Kanimozhi’’s) tweet, we rectified it.”
Kanimozhi said to media, “the Central government has been trying to impose the Hindi language in Tamil Nadu. In such circumstances, the state government should be vigilant to ensure that such things do not happen.” She also added that the pictures were found on the TNSTC’s website itself and it was sending a wrong message. MDMK leader Vaiko also criticized this and passed a statement.
