The Coronavirus Pandemic has sent shockwaves through the British’s executive body. With the British Prime Minister, Health Minister, the Queen, and the Prince of Wales all in isolation, two key decision-making ministers in the cabinet right now are the Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak, and Home Minister Priti Patel.
Recently, the news of Prince Charles having tested positive for the virus broke out. Two days after that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson took to social media to announce that he has tested positive for coronavirus with mild symptoms. Additionally, Health Minister Matt Hancock is another high profile minister from the government who has been tested positive. It seems like the coronavirus has broken all ranks in the British Government. All these official have been isolated.
With a major official falling prey to the coronavirus, the question of who will take over the government was on everyone’s’ minds. After much deliberation, it has been announced that the two key decision-making ministers are Rishi Sunak and Priti Patel. Many people have taken to social media to point out the irony of the situation. Two Ministers of Indian Origin taking over the British Government! Looks like the table have turned.
Rishi Sunak is a 39-year-old Conservative MP from Yorkshire. He has held that post for since 2015. He holds the post of the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the British Cabinet. He went to Oxford University to study Philosophy, Economics and Politics. He has worked for Goldman Sachs as well as a hedge fund. Later, he co-founded an investment firm. Rishi Sunak is married to Infosys founder Narayana Murthy's daughter Akshata Murthy.
Priti Patel is the home minister of the United Kingdom. She studied economics at the Keele University and pursued her post-graduation from University of Essex.
