Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa seeks PM Modi to release 40,000 crores for relief works
CM BS Yediyurappa has visited the New Delhi to meet PM and Union Ministers. CM had urged the PM to immediately release the funds to Karnataka state and speeds up relief and rehabilitation work in the states flood and rain-hit districts.
BSY led a delegation comprising Union Ministers, MLAs, and MPs from the State. Meanwhile, Yediyurappa requested the to release 40,000 crores form the Centre to rebuild the damaged houses and roads and schools and hospitals in the state’s 30 districts and sought Rs 10,000 crores for immediate assistance.
The delegation said, “The PM assured us he would ensure central funds are released for relief work in the state.” While “He also said he would rush an official team to assess the damage caused by rain and floods across the state.”
BSY said 'We explained to Prime Minister Modi the massive flood caused due to excess water released from reservoirs in Maharashtra. The neighbouring state had released water due to heavy rains in their catchment areas over a fortnight.
Congress speaker VS Ugrappa said, "We have been demanding the release of Rs 5,000 crore as an interim relief, but the Union government is yet to make a decision."
The JD(S) said, “Please don’t let people who have lost everything in the floods lose the name of their village too.”
