Karnataka CM BSY visits Shivamogga district for relief works
Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa has visited the flood-affected areas in several districts in State. CM has looked over the Shivamogga relief work at Rajiv Gandhi Badavane, Vidya Nagar and spoke to residents.
After visiting Vidya Nagar, CM stated that Rs 50 crore will be released for those who were affected by the floods. And also for the repair of damaged roads and drainage and houses and bridges in Shivamogga City Corporation limits.
CM instructed the officers to implement the permanent measures like the construction of retentions wall along the Tunga to prevent flooding in the future. While he also visited the Tirthahalli taluk and collected the reports of affected people and he held the meeting with officers and instructed them to asses the loss and to review the relief works.
According to the officers by the flood situation Rs, 472 crore loss has been estimated. As well as 1,105 houses have collapsed and also 10,600-acre crops also heavily damaged.
