After the announcement of Sumalatha’s political entry on Thursday, speculations started taking rounds about the constituency she will contest. However, the actor-turned-politician made it clear that she will be contesting from the Mandya Constituency.
With the recent demise of her husband, Ambareesh, she now wishes to take forth his husband’s legacy in politics by contesting from Mandya which has a huge fan base for her husband. If the rumours are to be believed she turned down the Bengaluru MP Ticket offered by the Congress party. She also made it clear that she would contest as Independent if Congress offers the Mandya MP Seat to its coalition partner JD (S).
On the other hand, CM HD Kumaraswamy wants his son Nikhil Gowda to contest from Mandya in 2019 Polls. Telugu people were already familiar with Nikhil who acted as the lead in the movie 'Jaguar'. Abuzz is that he has already begun campaigning for the elections on an unofficial note. “JD (S) MLAs are in all the eight Assembly Segments. Since it's a coalition government, We have the support of Congress as well. People of Mandya has always shown faith in us and we are thankful for that,” said Nikhil.
Nikhil also said that though sympathy might help Sumalatha, he expressed his confidence over his win as there are more fetching points in his favour. He then went on saying that anybody has the right to contest in the elections in Democracy and people were well aware of whom to vote.
All said and done, the political scenarios in Mandya Constituency are all heated up with Sumalatha’s political entry. The election results from here are going to turn interesting.
