Karnataka Congress starts preparation for by-elections
The Karnataka Congress has started its preparations for the by-elections in 17 constituencies, caused by the disqualification of rebel MLAs. In a senior leaders meeting, one of the party workers said “happy that in a way we are out of alliance now,” so we will give more responsibilities of constituencies.
“We don’t know the by-election will come, what the court ruling will be (on disqualified MLAs) we are not sure, but immediately we will be deputing leaders giving them the responsibility of each constituency,” he said. After disqualified MLAs from Congress, it is the search for new candidates.
“Some places strong candidates have gone, they have won two, four times… individual leaders will travel in the constituencies and access the situation and find the candidate also,” he said. “It won’t be easy for those who have left us too.”
“What kind of understanding will depend on the situation, as we did during the local body polls, or else both parties will not get any benefit,” he said. And also, “from workers to leaders no one is in favour of the alliance, party workers are happy that we have come out,” he said. Party sources said, “but our primary focus will be on the by-elections.”
