Karnataka floods: Dam waters flood Hampi, Srirangapatna; toll hits 41
From the last one week, Karnataka has been facing heavy floods and rains. Now big relief to the Karnataka, the rain has stopped. Allowing relief and rescue workers to search for the missing and move safety. Due to the heavy rain, the water was stored in many places.
Due to the overflow, heritage site of Hampi was submerged as Tungabhadra dam logged a record discharge of 3 lakh cusecs. While in Karnataka CM has held areal survey over the state, who were affected by the heavy rains.
The CM has requested to grant the Rs 3,000 crore for the flood-hit areas. The toll rose to 41. Four more people were killed whew a pickup vehicles hit the Kumudavati bridge in Choradi in Shivamogga district. The toll is on rising as 14 people missing across the state.
While the total 200 visiters have to be moved from Viruapapura Gadded on the banks of the Tungabhadra as hotels did not heed warning s and continued to welcome tourists.
Is big relief to state, 70 residents in Chikkamagaluru were saved by the department of NDRF personnel. The team also saved a septuagenarian, Narayana Gowda, by carrying him for over 7km on a slippery road.
