Karnataka’s first triple talaq case filed in Belagavi

In North Karnataka area, the first case of triple talaq has been registered at the Savadatti police station, after the bill 'Muslim Women Act, 2019' has passed in the parliament. The Muslim Women Act 2019(Protection of Rights on Marriage) bans the divorce by Triple talaq.
 
Nasrin Ismailkhan, who stays in Belgavi district has submitted a complaint to police that her husband Ismailkhan Amin Sharifkhan Pathan has sent her talaq notice thrice via post since February. 
 
Ismailkhan belongs to Honda Sattari in North Goa, and he works in that state, while Nasrin is Engineering graduate. 
 
Nasrin has given a handwritten complaint to circle inspector Muttanna Saravagol, states that she lived with Ismailkhan for 10 months in Goa. Then Ismail has sent her to her mothers home stating that she is ill. But doctors in the Savadatti has confirmed that she is fine. Then the parents of Nasrin has visited goa to convince him, that their daughter is fine. But Ismail repeated said that Nasrin is a patient, he would divorce her, she stated in the complaint. The complaint also reads the Ismail has sent her Talaq over a registred post sating that their marriage life is not compatible. They received the post on February 26 but returned it on March 12 along with a notice their advocate. "We warned him about legal action if he failed to take me to his home. But he issued another talaq the same month and the third one on May 4. Despite this, we took community leaders’ help to be reunited. As his talaq is illegal, I am seeking appropriate legal action”.
 
Circle inspector Muttanna Saravagol said that a case has been registered under Section 4 of Muslim Women Act 2019 and the case is under investigation.
