Kishan Reddy to replace senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya
If the media reports are to be believed, BJP leader and MP Bandaru Dattatreya are being pressurized by the party’s leadership to step aside from the seat. The party is keen to give chance for BJP's state president G. Kishan Reddy to contest from the party.
Kishan Reddy who has eyed on the seat during 2014 elections has sacrificed it for Dattatreya upon the party’s decision. Dattatreya met with the party’s expectations by winning in the 2014 elections against Congress' Anjan Kumar Yadav. Dattatreya was also made a minister by the NDA government and remained a Union minister till 2017. Seems like the national leaders has acknowledged his sacrifice this time. It was also reported that Amit Shah wants to field a younger candidate.
On the other hand, Kishan Reddy’s defeat in the recent Assembly elections and being a non-local with respect to the constituency is considered as the disadvantages for him which might help in favor of Dattatreya. Party High Command is anyhow in the notion to put Kishan Reddy in the race despite many BJP leaders within party questioning Kishan Reddy's loss.
