Madras High Court clears Athi Varadar water in tank meets norms
The Madras High Court said the water into the Anantha Saras tank in which Athi Varadhar would be immersed for 40 years satisfy the Tami Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB).
While Justice P D Audikesavalu announced the order to request that the temple tank be cleaned and restored before immersing the deity into it.
When the petition for appeal was submitted to (HR&CE) that Ananth Saras cleaning work was almost complete and only 10% remained.
The department rejected the high court offer of services of CISF who had volunteered to desilt the tank. Meanwhile, TNPCB reported on the tank is tested and found to be fine in all aspects except the level of turbidity which exceeds the permissible level.
While Justice S Manikumar and Justice Subramonium Prasad dismissed three separate PILs seeking an extension of public display of Athi Varadhar for 10 more days.
