It seems like TDP leaders who are initially keen to take the poll plunge are going a step backward when it comes to Lok Sabha polls in AP. Liquor baron and MLC Magunta Srinivasula Reddy is unlikely to contest from Ongole for a parliamentary seat. Generally "Magunta" family has a great reputation in Nellore and Ongole districts. But this time it seems like no one from their family is ready to contest in prime polls.
Reddy is likely to tell Naidu that he would keep his MLC seat. On Thursday, he held a meeting with his confidants and core leaders from Ongole. Chandrababu announced Reddy’s candidature two months ago and asked Magunta to suggest on assembly polls too. But in Prakasham district, Reddy believes that TDP is on a weak wicket in 5 of the 7 assembly segments.
It's learned that Yerragondapalem, Markapuram, Giddalur, Darsi, and Kanigiri has been proved to be the weakest bases for the ruling party even they can make gins from Kondepi and Ongole, it may not be sufficient to overcome the deficit of the remaining segments. YSRC has been trying to poach Reddy for the past several months. YSRC is even ready to ask its MP YV Subbareddy to make way for Magunta Srinivasula Reddy. But Magunta Srinivasula Reddy concluded to the reporters that he would remain in TDP and work for the victory of the party candidate. The thing that terrifies Magunta is the survey that reported a huge gap between TDP and YSRC in Yerragondapalem. It left Reddy in a dilemma even the situation is far better in Markapuram.
