Delhi: Mallikarjun Kharge has resigned as Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha. Mallikarjun Kharge, the candidate for the Congress president election, has resigned as the leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha following the party policy of one position for one adopted at the Jaipur conference. The resignation came after filing nomination papers to run.

 
In the event of Mallikarjun Kharge's resignation, one of P. Chidambaram, Digvijay Singh, and Mukul Wasnik may be considered for the position of Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha. This decision was due to Gelot not running for the presidency. Galot resigned due to the High Command's instructions that he should resign from the post of Chief Minister of Rajasthan if he becomes the party president.
 
The scrutiny of nomination papers for the Congress president election will be held today. In the evening, the examination will be completed and the accepted papers will be clarified. Mallikarjun Kharge, Shashi Tharoor, and KN Tripathi have filed papers at present.
 
Mallikarjun Kharge, who is contesting with the support of the Nehru family and the high command, has also received the support of the G23 as a rebel faction. Leaders, including Manish Tewari, who were expected to contest the elections, have come forward in support of Khargge.
 
Kharge said after the paper submission that he would like to thank all those who supported him. Many leaders supported him. I have been a Congress supporter since my childhood. always stood by the idea of Congress. Every voter must vote for himself. Kharge said that the energy he got from leaders like Indira Gandhi made him a Congress leader.
