Mamta Banerjee: I’d like to die not prove my religion before entering in Temple

West Bengal's chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, said on Tuesday that she would rather die than demonstrate her religion and called on BJP to compare the religious activities conducted by the govt of the Trinamool Congress with those of the past state governments.

She claimed that more Durga pujas were held in the state under the TMC rule than before. Inaugurating a museum, the leader of the TMC said that she was a Hindu but also had regard for other cultures and faiths.

She also said that it would be better for her to die before she enters a Hindu temple than to demonstrate her religion. You're no one she have to demonstrate her religion before you. The day of her party, the TMC staged a day-long dharna in protest against the choice of the centre to send IT notices to Durga puja committees, she couched assault on BJP took place.

Mamta Banerjee also says that she understands more Sanskrit scriptures than those who criticize her and challenge her religious identity. She is a Hindu and she respects all religions. The BJP has repeatedly charged her with placating the state's Muslim community to secure minority votes.

Making reference to the accusations made by BJP that the Trinamool Congress government is curtailing Durga Puja in the country, she said the party should first look at the job it has accomplished since it came to power at the centre.
