Members of various Dalit associations condemn the Kabbekatte incident

Social activists from Dalit associations have blocked traffic at the Srirangapatna- Bidar highway at Pandavapura to condemn the atrocity on the Dalit at the Kabbekatte, Chamarajanagar district.

S. Pratap form Shyandrahalli was reportedly beaten, stripped and paraded in a procession by “upper” caste villagers in Kabbekatte on June 3 for entering into the temple.

Progressive thinkers, rationalists, and Dalit Kranti Seva Samiti candidates held the protest. They demanded severe action on the temple priest and other accused under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and other Acts. They gave a report to Pandavapuraa Tahsildar Pramod S. Patil to seek justice for the victims. A similar protest was held at various parts of the district.
