Miscreant who opens fire in RTC bus identified as an AP cop
An unknown person opened fire in a city bus has created panic among passengers on Thursday morning at Punjagutta. This has not only shocked the citizen but has also alerted the police department in the State whose integrity is in threat now.
Upon the preliminary investigation, the man turned out to be a policeman from Andhra Pradesh. He was identified as Srinivas, a police officer working in the security wing of the Andhra Pradesh intelligence department. According to the media report, he is also working as a security officer of a well-known person who is a native of AP.
The eye witness in the bus claimed that the police officer was travelling in the bus in which he had entered into an argument with the co-passengers. The dispute started when the person objected him of standing at the footboard of the bus upon which the officer opened fire in the bus. The incident took place near Punjagutta when the conductor of 47-L route bus between Secunderabad and Manikonda. The bullet went through the rooftop of the bus. However, nobody was injured in the firing after which Srinivas ran away from the bus.
Bus driver Yakub Basha who was scared after hearing the firing sound ran the bus without stopping at designated stops on the route. Along with conductor Bhupati, the driver took the bus to the Secunderabad Cantonment depot, before returning to Panjagutta police station to lodge the complaint. AP Director General of Police R P Thakur said he would get the matter investigated and take appropriate action.
