MK Stalin as DMK Chief a work in progress
After the death of M Karunanidhi, M K Stalin took charge as the president of DMK. He may not have relished the circumstances, having to take the post three weeks after the Karunanidhi death.
While Stalin talking to press he said “I am not Kalaignar to speak like him. I can’t match his mastery over language. But, I can dare to try.” Meanwhile DMK party organ Murasoli said Stalin is the right leader to take the party forward.
“If Stalin wants to become a national leader, (something Karunanidhi did). If his aim is to become CM, then he should be countering the ruling party in the assembly. Despite raising issues, he is unable to engage them in a lengthy debate and has been taking the easy route of walking out,” party analyst said.
The analyst said, “He is hard-working, but he needs to do more. Karunanidhi used to keep himself updated by meeting experts from different fields. The only inputs that Stalin gets are from his party and that surely does not reflect the reality.”
DMK speaker TKS Elangovan said “It has been a successful year for Stalin, who managed a strong alliance and registered a marvellous victory in the LS polls. That is a great achievement for any leader who has taken charge recently,” he said.
