MK Stalin asks to get the opinion of cardholders for ‘One nation, one ration card'
DMK chief MK Stalin said the government should seek the ration card holder opinion through the ration shops before joining the Centre’s ‘one nation, one ration card’ scheme.
Stalin said Food Minister Kamaraj and Co-operative Minister Sellur K. Raja that Tamil Nadu would join the scheme, was “highly condemnable.” “Tamil Nadu’s Public Distribution System (PDS) was effectively implemented and received appreciation from the Supreme Court. Now, the AIADMK government has joined hands with the BJP government to destroy the system.”
Stalin also said the ruling government was not able to distribute food and other items to join the “one nation, one ration card” scheme would pave the way for closure of PDS.
Meanwhile, MDMK general secretary Vaiko sought the State government not to implement a “one nation, one ration card” scheme under pressure from the Centre. He also warned that the move would destroy the public distribution system in State.
