MK Stalin urges CM Palaniswami to allot more funds for rain-hit Nilgiris
DMK president MK Stalin urged the CM K Palaniswami for the relief works who were affected by the heavy rains and floods in the Nilgiris district. Stalin sought the CM to take immediate action on the flood-affected people in Nilgiris district.
Stalin also sought for the more funds to release for relief works. While During the August 5th and 9th, heavy rain like 91cm in 24 hours was recorded in the district.
Stalin stated “There is no power supply in many areas as poles have been damaged, drilling water is in short supply and people don’t have enough food. Many assembly constituencies in the district are affected very badly.”
He also said, “Gudalur constituency has been affected badly and more than 10,000 people are staying in relief camps and double the number escaped death.”
Stalin said “The government has estimated the loss to be around Rs 199 crore, which is much less than the actual damage. It must allocate Rs 1,000 crore to carry out relief measures and aid in the affected district.”
