After a bizarre evening for the Indian fans today, this evening, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "Though there are a billion broken hearts tonight, Team India, you put up a great fight." Gandhi added that Team India deserve "our love and respect". The Wayanad MP also congratulated New Zealand for their "well-earned win".
Reacting to India losing the 2019 World Cup semi-final to New Zealand on Wednesday, Aamir Khan tweeted, "I just wish it hadn't rained yesterday...the result might have been different." "For me, India had already won the World Cup when we qualified for the semi-finals at the top of the list as the number one team," he added.
India lost to New Zealand by 18 runs and Kiwis reach World Cup final for the second straight time. This is the second straight time that India has been eliminated from World Cup in semi-finals. The semi-final was played over two days after rain interrupted play on Tuesday.
