MSD to serve in Kashmir from July 31 to August 15
It is known that former team Indian Captain is unavailable for the upcoming West Indies tour as he wants to serve his term as Army captain.
MS Dhoni will be with his Territorial Army unit of the Parachute Regiment (106 Para TA battalion) in Kashmir from July 31 to August 15. The 38-year-old will undertake duties of patrolling, guard and post duty and will be staying with the troops. For this, MS Dhoni joined a battalion headquartered in Bengaluru.
"As requested by the officer and approved by Army Headquarters, he will be performing duties of patrolling among other such activities and would be staying with the troops," Colonel Aman Anand, a spokesperson for the Indian Army, said.
The 38-year-old holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army unit of the Parachute Regiment (106 Para TA battalion). The honour was accorded to him by the Indian Army in 2011.
Dhoni was given this honour along with Abhinav Bindra and Deepak Rao. In 2015, the Ranchi lad became a qualified paratrooper after having completed five parachute training jumps from Indian Army aircraft in the Agra training camp.
