Mukesh Ambani offers Rs 1.11 crore to Tirumala

Reliance Industries (RIL) on Sunday has offered ₹1.11 crore to the shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala, a temple official said.
A RIL representative has handed over the demand draft for the sum to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) that governs the shrine, he added. RIL requested that the amount be utilised in the temple-run free meal trust for pilgrims, the official said.
The meal scheme, which benefits about one lakh devotees daily on the Tirumala Hills and at select places in Tirupati is run by the TTD utilising the interest accrued on the over Rs 1,000-crore corpus contributed by devotees since 1985, he added.
This noble act of serving millions of devotees daily has been largely appreciated by the Reliance and the mammoth amount of 1.11 crore is now being utilized on this free of cost meal trust. The DD has been handed over to AV Dharma Reddy, who is the special officer of TTD, by a representative of Reliance Industries.
