Naidu, KCR & Mamta to skip PM Modi’s 'one nation, one poll’ !
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and former Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu will skip the "one nation, one poll" meeting called by PM Narendra Modi with presidents of all political parties on Wednesday.
Mamata wrote a letter to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, claiming it's difficult to take a call on such a crucial matter on such short notice. She said, saying 'one nation, one election' issue, which is one of the agendas of the meeting, requires expert consultations, instead of dealing with it hurriedly.
On Friday, Joshi had sent out invites to heads of all parties who have a lawmaker in Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha for a meeting on Tuesday. The other three topics that Joshi proposed for discussion include the push to develop a selected group of districts to be known as aspirational districts, the celebration of the 75 years of Independence in 2022 and 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary this year and improve parliament’s productivity.
Meanwhile, KCR also may give a miss to this meet. It is known that Telangana Chief Minister, KCR, had not participated in the crucial NITI Aayog meet in Delhi on June 15th, 2019.
As KCR has a packed schedule and is busy in the preparations of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme inauguration, which is scheduled on June 21, he is yet to respond to the Prime Minister’s invitation. His tight schedule indicates that KCR may not attend the meeting and could send a representative instead.
