National leaders break down while paying their last respects to Sushma Swaraj
PM Narendra Modi was in tears while paying his last respects to the former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at her residence on Wednesday. PM Modi could be seen talking to Swaraj's family and consoling them. "Sushma Ji's demise is a personal loss. She will be remembered fondly for everything that she's done for India," PM Modi had tweeted earlier.
UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi paid their last respects to Sushma Swaraj. Earlier, Rahul had tweeted, "I'm shocked to hear about the demise of Sushma Swaraj Ji, an extraordinary political leader, a gifted orator & an exceptional Parliamentarian, with friendships across party lines."
Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav broke down in tears after paying his last respects to former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who passed away following a cardiac arrest on Tuesday. Samajwadi Party founder and former Uttar Pradesh CM Mulayam Singh Yadav also paid tribute to Swaraj, who will be cremated with full state honours at 3 pm today.
Veteran BJP leader LK Advani, while paying tribute to Sushma Swaraj said, "Sushma Ji was... a fine human being. She touched everyone with her warmth." "I do not recall a single year when she missed bringing my favourite chocolate cake to me on my birthday," the 91-year-old added.
Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao condoled the death of Sushma Swaraj. While KCR praised the services Swaraj rendered for the nation, Reddy said, "As an able administrator and an epitome of bravery and kindness, she inspired women of this country."
