Neither BJP nor Congress, opposition status goes to another party in Telangana?
The role of the chief opposition party in Telangana is being aspired by TRS government’s best friend. TRS government’s best friend being MIM party wants the opposition status. This could be an agreement between both the parties being beneficial for both of them. This can occupy media space and public discourse by getting ahead with the game of shadow boxing and mock fighting.
The position of parties in Telangana is a bit confusing. TRS is leading with 100 MLAs while Congress had only six of them and TDP had two of them while BJP had one MLA with another one left vacant. At the same time, MIM has seven MLAs, forward block one and independent one. By this, it is clear that MIM is the second-largest party in the Telangana assembly.
However, it doesn't have mandatory 10 percent of seats to be given the opposition status. In such a situation, the opposition status can be given by the government if it wants. It is clearly seen that TRS makes MIM the chief opposition, then they both might play fixed matches and can dictate the political narrative. It is yet to see, how the Telangana assembly situations will be shaping the present scenario.
