The Anantnag seat has been vacant since 2016. Former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah urged people through twitter by saying 'Please don't reward death, destruction & deceit of last 4 years by staying home.'
Due to the volatile security situation in the constituency, the voting will be held in three phases in the constituency beginning Tuesday. The EC has also curtailed the voting time by two and ensured the highest security in the constituency.
