O. Paneerselvam says Palaniswami stood by me during the ‘dharmayudh’
In the wake of recent reports about the strained relationship with CM Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy CM O Paneerselvam said that the CM has stood by his ‘dharmayudh’ on the Sasikala clan. It appears to try to convey that everything was well among them, Paneerselvam said, “I began the dharmayudh and the Chief Minister was with me in fighting it. We (the erstwhile EPS and OPS groups) merged because of this. There is no history of us beating ourselves and joining other parties,” the deputy CM said. Remembering how he escapes from the AIADMK and comes back. “The dharmayudh was launched only to ensure that the party does not fall into the clutches of the (Sasikala) family,” he said.
DMK legislator V Senthil Balaji’s remark is that the DMK Chief neither “bowed nor crawled” to get posts but gained “great heights due to his popularity.” In that Balaji did not mention anyone name, the Chief Minister and his partners took offense and brought up instances of the Ex AIADMK minister’s criticizing of the DMK leadership in the previous and the way they traded charges. Paneeselvam stated that the Ex legislator had bowed to former CM Jayalalithaa and fallen at her feet “several million” times.
“Will you let us speak about what the Deputy Chief Minister had said when the broke away to form the AIADMK?... I am also ready to come with photographs of people crawling,” he said, sending the opposition benches into peals of laughter. The leader was perhaps referring to photographs showing AIADMK ministers ‘paying obeisance’ to Jayalaithaa’s close-aide, V K Sasikala, after the death of the Ex-CM.
