Once again, Virat Kohli backs up Dhoni
Following MS Dhoni's unbeaten 61-ball 56-run knock against West Indies in 2019 World Cup, India captain Virat Kohli said, "He's a legend of the game. He has such a keen understanding of the game." "Dhoni knows exactly what he wants to do...When he has an off day here and there, everyone starts talking but we've always backed him," he added.
Dhoni has been facing a lot of criticism since the starting of the world cup and especially after the match with Afghanistan for his slowly paced innings. Some say that Dhoni is not able to rotate strike at the latter part of the innings and he is not able to strike big like before. But he proved his worth once again with his crucial 56*(61) vs West Indies.
“He has won us so many games and the best thing about having someone like him is when you need those 15-20 runs, he knows exactly how to get them," said Team Indian captain. Virat further added that he succeeds 8 out of 10 times for the team. He even told that Dhoni has such a keen understanding of the game and he always sends us feedback, that you know 260 is a good score.
Talking about MS Dhoni's knock, World No 1 fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah said it was a top-rated innings. "The innings that he played is the kind which is very underrated. Sometimes you might feel...he's batting slow but sometimes it is important that he takes time, which he did," he added.
Courtesy of this massive win, India kept their unbeaten run going in the tournament and they are now within touching distance of making it into the semis.
