The former union minister P Chidambaram spent the whole night at the headquarters of the Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) after drastic detention late Wednesday by authorities from his residence in southern Delhi who jumped a wall in their efforts to reach him.
Mr Chidambaram has been placed in the 'Lock-up Suite 3' in the guesthouse floor of the CBI building, which is coronated in his existence in 2011. As Home Minister of the Congress-led administration at the time, he was a special guest. He was also taken on a tour of the house and its lock-up services together with then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The source says that he began his mocking this morning. The CBI would take him to court later that day and allegedly ask for optimum detention for his interrogation-14 days. In 2007, even though he was Finance Minister, Mr Chidambaram has been indicted of promoting foreign investment in a television company, INX Media, in the case of his son, Karti Chidambaram, who was supposedly kickbacks.
Sources claim he would face Foreign Investment Promo Board documents led by Mr P Chidambaram as a minister. Mr Chidambaram and his son were appointed by INX co-founders Peter and Indrani Mukerjea, who are presently in prison in link with the death of the daughter of Indrani Mukerjea, Sheena Bora. Mr Chidambaram denied the claims and said that the case is the BJP-led government's political.
