Changing their tactic for the coming general election, the anti-BJP alliance which has Rahul Gandhi(AIC), Mamata Banerjee(TMC), Sharad Pawar(NC), Chandrababu Naidu(TDP), Farooq Abdullah(NCP) and Kejriwal(AAP) have discussed the possibility to form a pre-poll anti-Modi front on national level. Nara Chandrababu Naidu insisted on this, as in accord to the existing rules that an alliance having the highest number of MPs will get an invitation to form the government at the Centre.
At the dinner hosted by Sharad Pawar in New Delhi, the alliance discussed for hours together with a common agenda of ‘saving democracy of the country’. Later Rahul Gandhi said the reporters that opposition leaders agreed to have a common minimum program and will work together to bring down BJP. The Sarkaria Commission recommendation and the Supreme Court order are the basis for this guideline. This is why the parties waiting for alliance till after the poll stand to lose the immediate chance.
Trinamool Congress president Banerjee called the meeting fruitful and said that they will go with a pre-poll alliance if needed. She said “With the slogan ‘Sabko ek rakho, Desh ko bachao’, the alliance would save India from disaster, from the hands of BJP, Modi and Amit Shah. We will go in for a pre-poll alliance so that it doesn’t become a post-poll irritant”, she asserted
The anti-Modi leaders are now all set to close all options for the BJP in the event of their parties getting enough numbers. For this, only a pre-election front is an effective answer.
