Progress in the investigation of ex-Mayor's murder yet makes a breakthrough
Recently in Tirunelveli city, the murder of Mayor Uma Maheshwari, and her husband, including housemaid has occurred. The investigation has not made any breakthrough. The police have handover the case to criminal Branch. Now, the case will be taken the under process of the Criminal Branch- Criminal Branch Investigation Department.
The CB-CID officer Piraichandran and other officials have visited the Uma Maheswari house, where the incident happened. The CB-CID team said we are investigating to find the unknown persons, they have been unable to make significant progress so till now.
The investigating officer said, “Murugasankaran had earned multiple enmities though property disputes and financial transactions. Since the assailants had spent over 30 minutes in the house, it cannot be a case of ‘murder for gain’ as burglars will always be in a hurry to flee with the booty after committing the crime,” he said. Before killing them they were attacked the unknown persons. Those were tortured the couple for the knowledge about the information of properties etc.
The Police officer said, “It is clear that the killers had spent more than 30 minutes, which means this incident has a deeper motive, which remains elusive.”
